On changes and dragon form.
Dec. 18th, 2020 07:37 amCollecting my ideas in one place since art doesn't work overly well lately.

Full dragon form:
A fuller description of full shapechange: This is definitely a far more visibly showy form than the default midstate he deals with every day. He is quadrupedal, with wings in addition to forelimbs and hindlimbs. His feathers are more colorful, more elaborate; his wings and tail sport longer show-feathers not at all unlike the Phoenix he designed back in his world, bright eyespots in each one sort of like a peacock's display. Around his throat is a long crest of bright brassy feathers, which he can bristle up like a flaring betta fish for much the same purpose. Down his neck, from head to mid-back, is a long ridge of stiff, broad feathers that can be laid flat or bristled up for further display purposes. These change color based on the seasons, paler and shading to white in winter but brightening to a burnished gold in summer. His feathers are for the most part a burnished crimson; bright lights show an iridescent dusting of brass. His wings tend towards brassy and gold, a deeper orange hue deep at the root of the feathers, and highly metallic. At the elbows, shoulders, legs and along the edges of his tail, brass-gold feathers grow longer and thicker, and are all distinctly metallic in sheen. Across his body are a series of bright pale yellow stripes that in bright sun look like they glow - they do not, and it is merely an illusion, but an impressive one.
He is unbearably soft to the touch.
His body feathers are very short, like the feathers on the neck of a swan, and pushed up and to the side, at the base of each can be found a small, very hard scale. Aside from at his extremities, these scales are hard to spot but are ubiquitous across his body. The feathers grow longer at the shoulders, neck and haunches, and in these places molt regularly.
He has long, thin legs for a dragon, and shorter wings more akin to a forest hawk, and can't glide and soar for long well because of it. His tail is easily the same width as his wingspan alone, flexible and edged on either side by stiff feathers. His frame is long and slim, and the short wings and long broad tail mean turning on a dime even midair is effortless. He is by design a creature who could do very well in a forested situation, dodging nimbly between treetrunks on the ground or in the air as easily. His chest is deep and narrow, much like a greyhound's, and his claws are for the most part fairly blunt, like a runner's cleats and for a similar purpose. He doesn't use them to cause harm so much as for traction. This is not an ambush predator by his design, he is a pursuit predator, with the agility and endurance to keep up with whatever he's chasing down. His head is narrow, his teeth the sharp and curved sort best suited for catching and gripping slippery fish. That he is utterly intolerant to water is ... unfortunate.
